Advocacy and Awareness

In every country where CURE works, we aim to ensure that every child with a treatable disability can reach their full potential through God’s hope and healing.

Some cultures hold false and harmful traditional beliefs about people with disabilities. These misconceptions lead to discriminatory attitudes and behaviors while reinforcing structural barriers that exclude people with disabilities and deny them their rights.

To help tear down these societal barriers, CURE works to raise awareness and advocate for people with disabilities. We educate the public on the rights of people with disabilities and mobilize their support. In partnership with local governments, non-governmental organizations, disabled person organizations, and national church networks, we utilize opportunities at mobile clinics and outreach events to train communities to care for people with disabilities.

What are the outcomes of successful advocacy and awareness?

Children experience transformation as their treatable disabilities are prevented from becoming permanent conditions due to a lack of education.

Local healthcare systems and churches are strengthened and equipped to support children with disabilities.
