Play Therapy

In every country where CURE works, we aim to ensure that every child with a treatable disability can reach their full potential through God’s hope and healing.

Children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable, marginalized groups. They are often isolated and hidden away, living in darkness, facing rejection and even abuse. Families and kids often experience shame as they are viewed as cursed and responsible for their conditions. They come to CURE feeling unwanted, unloved, and carrying physical and spiritual burdens. Through play and art therapy, CURE provides a safe environment for children with disabilities to feel respected, loved, and treated with dignity.

These therapies allow children to enjoy crafts and games, make new friends, begin to share their stories, and explore the love God has for them. CURE’s trained team of counselors adapts activities to the needs of each child—helping them identify and process hard feelings. Through the ministry, children learn to forgive, love, and build their confidence on God. Parents and caregivers receive guidance on how to support their child as they face challenges at home, school, and in the community.

What are the outcomes of successful Play Therapy?

Play and art therapy helps children release shame and begin to accept themselves.

Children receive a new perspective on the value they bring to their communities, helping them return home with new confidence and able to participate in community life.

Families and children take a step toward mental and emotional well-being as they receive the support and counseling they need.
